Sr. Data and AI Engineer

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with architects and customers to design and implement data pipelines, platforms, lakes, warehouses, and architectures
  • Deliver enterprise-level ML and GenAI solutions via IaC and CI/CD
  • Continuous learning: staying up to date on AWS (including certifying) as well as awareness of GenAI developments
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, cross-team collaboration with cloud engineers
  • Build and maintain generic, repeatable data products for use in future consulting engagements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Certifications related to cloud hyperscalers or data provider strongly preferred (or attained in first 90 days)

Experience

Required

  • 5+ years in one of the domains (data engineering or AI/ML)
  • At least one year experience of experience in the other domain
  • Experiencing writing SQL (any dialect), familiar with stored procedures, CTEs, etc.
  • Significant experience programming (Python, Scala, Java, etc.) utilizing source control (Git, Github, Gitlab, BitBucket, ...)
  • Regularly using at least 1 cloud platform: AWS, Azure, GCP, ...
  • Familiar with big data and data lake concepts and at least one big data platform / tool
  • Strong customer facing skills
  • Understanding of data modeling and governance concepts
  • IaC: Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, ...
  • Data warehouses: Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, ....
  • NoSQL databases and concepts: DynamoDB, Cassandra, Redis, ...
  • Data streaming: Spark, Kafka, Kinesis, ...

Nice to Have

  • Programmatic use of knowledge bases or RAG for GenAI
  • ETL tooling: Airflow, DBT, Glue, Fivetran, ....
  • Familiarity with ML concepts (random forests, neural nets, etc.) and common frameworks: Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ....
  • Programmatic use of agents via Strands, Langchain, or similar
  • ML Ops: data / model training pipelines, parameter tuning, and tuning for inference
  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, ...
  • Data Visualization: QuickSight Tableau, PowerBI, ...
